Type Classification's and examples.

There are thousands of different type of font's and all whom fall into a different type classification.
I'll be showing 4 different types of classifications and a short brief explanation.

Blackletter Classification
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blackletter is also known as Gothic script, Gothic minuscule, or Textura. Originates from year 1150 and continued to be used well into the 17th century. Though Germany continued to use the classification as far as te 20th Century. Blackletter is script style of classification and is only currently used as a display type of font. shown in the example below Fraktur is the most common form of Blackletter and is characterized by broken strokes.

Serif Classification
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A widely used type of font traditionally used when printing newspapers. Even now many magazines use Serif types of font. Times New Roman is a type of Serif font and probably one of the most used, Newspapers like the Daily Mail use Times New Roman. Serif is thought to have originated from the Roman Alphabet and Inscriptional Writing. Shown below is an example of Times New Roman:

Script Classification
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Script Classifications are based upon the varied and often fluid stroke created by handwriting. They are organized into highly regular formal types similar to cursive writing and looser, more casual scripts. In the example above Mistral is used as the type of Script which was founded in 1953 by Roger     Excoffon and was based on how his handwriting was.

Monospaced Classification
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A monospaced font, also called a fixed-pitch or non-proportional font. The fonts letters each keep to the same horizontal length. One of the most used Monospaced fonts classifications is courier. Shown in the example below Courier was designed to represent a strike-on Typewritier and was designed in 1955.
